Hi! My name is Katie, and I am a college student in San Diego, California working towards my bachelors degree in Food Science and Nutrition. I hope to one day become a registered dietician so I can help people learn about eating healthy and the impact good nutrition has on creating a happier lifestyle. The reason I have started this blog is to share my experiences of being a college student and balancing school, sports, working, and eating good healthy food (with the occasional splurge). I am a HUGE advocate for living a healthy and balanced lifestyle, too much of any one thing is never good. I believe in an active lifestyle and think that people should eat in a way that helps them feel great about being active. Well now that I've said why I'm starting this blog and what I believe in, I will share a little bit about myself. I grew up in a small agricultural community on the central coast called Santa Maria, California. All through high school I participated in sports, which included volleyball, swim and water polo; and I am currently playing on the San Diego State University Women's Club water polo team. Because of my experience with sports, especially my love for water polo, I have always been a fan of being in good shape and exercising a lot. However, when I went off to college, and I didn't have to swim or workout as much, I quickly realized how important having a good diet can be. I was no longer able to eat bread, pasta, and cereal for every meal. I realized how eating more unprocessed foods and a balanced diet of macronutrients can give you so much more energy. My love for food and how we can use it to make us feel our best is why I want to go in to nutrition. So I hope you enjoy reading my blog posts as much as I enjoy writing them. Below are some pictures of myself playing water polo, hiking with friends, etc.
